Yes it does mean you are close to the closing date of your home mortgage. Your lender should give you an estimated date of closing. That is the date you will give to your insurance agent as the effective date of your new homeowner, mobile home owner or fire policy. The best way is to have you mortgage loan officer prepare a binder request and have it faxed or emailed to your agent. The binder request will include a written date of estimated closing and all the details as to what the binder and subsequent policy should cover.
